You only need to look a couple of years ago when almost everyone was making DLP televisions. Texas Instruments introduced the chips and everyone couldn’t wait to get their hands on something that would be an alternative to plasma televisions that were already on the market, but very expensive.
Now, only two companies are left: Samsung and Mitsubishi.
These are some of the top companies when it comes to electronics, but you have to wonder when it will no longer make sense for them to continue making the sets too. One advantage they both has is that people recognize their brands, so they’ll be able to market in a way other companies couldn’t. Also, since they have so much experience, their delivering a product generations ahead of where we started.
In the back of your head, you still have to wonder how much longer we have. More importantly, how much longer will companies continue to support their existing televisions with parts, and lamps.
