There is a conversation going on at AVSForum about whether the HL61A750 is a better buy than the HL56A650. The point made in the thread is a good one: the 61A750 uses LED instead of a traditional DLP lamp. This means that you won’t have to make the investment of buying replacement lamps like people have grown accustomed too. The same conversation is going on at Hometheaterforum.
Update: Not sure how long it’s going to last, but you can buy a refurbished HL61A750 for $1299. You can read more about that here.
The overall consensus is that the 61A750 is worth the investment. We’ve covered the A750 series before and the firmware update that the televisions will need to prevent them from turning off automatically.
