Sony XL-2400 Replacement LampSony 3LCD HDTVs are one of Sony’s best evolutions in high definition television.  By using three LCD panels key benefits are immediately apparent when viewing a Grand WEGA™ TV. You can expect to see an incredibly detailed picture with eye-popping colors. Sony uses three tiny LCD panels (0.73” or 0.87” depending on model) with a combined resolution of over 2.76 million pixels on the smallest panel and over 3 million pixels on the larger one. The light from a high output UHP lamp shines into a filtering system that splits the beam into red, green, and blue light streams. Each color goes through its own LCD panel, which passes or blocks the light. The three beams are then recombined and sent to the projection lens.

The Sony XL-2400 is the magic that helps to power all of this. XL2400 is also known as F93087500.

I have a Sony TV that takes the XL-2400 lamp. And I have a question….my lamp went bad (I know this because replacing it solved the problem). The TV would play and then go dark, and start up again and then play a few minutes and reset ad infinutum. When the TV came back on, the picture looked as normal.

My question is, is there something I could have done to get some extra time out of the lamp?

    Thanks,

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

There are a couple of things you could have done and can do to make sure you get the most life. The first is to make sure that buy a quality replacement lamp. If you don’t buy a Sony original, make sure you’re buying from a dependable store. A bad lamp starts things off on the wrong foot.

From there, consider the temperature of the room, and the area near the television. Since it’s only a lamp, the temperature inside the television and the surrounding area are things to make sure are optimal.

It might be good to get some canned air and make sure you don’t have any dirt clogging the fans.

I guess the thing that bugs me is that even after going on and off repeatedly, the color and brightness of the lamp were fine. I’ve never run into a situation where a lamp went bad but still looked good. Am I being clear?

    Thanks for your help.
