No one is going to write about it. They have no reason to. If you are a manufacturer, you don’t want to tell your prospective customers that you are deciding to get out of the business after getting would-be customers to spend in excess of $1,500 for the latest and greatest in television technology.
So how do we see it happening?
First, I think that the writing is already on the wall. Last Christmas, there were dozens of companies waiting to sell a DLP television to people. You could go into a Best Buy or Circuit City and be dazzled by the choice. If you think about the condition of things now, only Mitsubishi and Samsung are still putting televisions out and while Mitsubishi is out releasing new models Samsung has been relatively quiet.
At least when it comes to DLP televisions. They just recently released their latest LCD television.
Lastly, you can never count Sony out. When Blu-ray came out, people called it a disruptive technology now HD-DVD is taking a long nap and BD-DVD drives are in PS3′s, desktops and laptops. Their latest OLED offering is small, but the prospect is good.
