On a recent trip to Best Buy, we uncovered the new Acer Aspire One. This is a netbook, and is about half the size of a typical notebook, but still has a full sized keyboard. The main advantage is that if you travel, you don’t need to carry 9-10 lbs of computer to get the job done. You can do it with this that weighs a lot less.
It doesn’t have an optical drive, but if you want to surf the web on a decent sized screen, this is perfect. Acer wanted to sell this version with the 6-cell battery for $449. If you preorder today, you can get it for $399, an 11% savings.
With the 6-cell battery, it should last between 5 and 6 hours on one charge, which should last you on most domestic and even some international flights if you ever find that you need to do some work along the way. If you get an external USB modem from your cell phone carrier, you could be watching Hulu, or Youtube, or whatever else you want.
