The only reason I will wind up getting an HDTV is because my CRT TVs die. Most of the examples I've seen in the stores look really crappy, and if that is what MY experience at HOME will be, then there is no hurry for me to change.

The VAST VAST VAST majority of what I WOULD watch is available in the regular cable channels. Is a cooking show going to improve THAT much with HD? Are the old reruns that I like going to be THAT much better? I have seen no evidence of that, in fact, the examples that I see in displays indicates that I will have WORSE viewing based on the demos.

The In-store TVs at box stores all look grainy, smeary, or have laggy motion. Not much of a service to the TV manufacturers. Do I want to pay $400 to bring THAT home?

I don't want to spend $600-$1000 for generic TV watching... I don't need 42"+, I don't need surround sound, high fidelity speakers, or 5 inputs for the stuff I watch. DVDs, reruns, cooking, news...

I just want to watch some TV man!
