Sports help to drive the latest in television technology. Nothing makes you want HDTV more than when you see the sweat dripping from your favorite players face and can actually see the beads as they fall or when you can see the breath of a football player as they play in Arctic temperatures.
The NFL is looking for 3D to help drive another possible revenue stream as it will broadcast games in movie theaters live in 3D. This will be a proof-of-concept that will definitely get people excited. The next stop would undoubtedly be to charge to see games in 3D and help provide a solution for movie threaters and sports leagues who realize everyone won’t want to pay several hundred dollars to watch the game but still want a great experience.
