Circuit City Going Bankrupt?

If you’ve purchased a DLP or HDTV from Circuit City you may want to ask what happens to your warranty if they go bankrupt.  They will be closing a bunch of stores, with rumor saying that it could be as much as 155 stores.  Best Buy and Walmart proved to be too big and too tough for Circuit City.

Expect any stock from the failing stores to go to the better stores.  This means there won’t likely be any “Store Closing” sales except for the store fixtures.  This all seems like a good idea since having a lot of stores isn’t always a good thing.  Just ask Starbucks who has closed hundred of stores now that the economy has turned sour.

Warranties are usually backed by other companies, but just be sure to call and make sure first.

  • If this is true, Circuit City will liquidate the stores, and they won't be able to transfer any product out of that store then. It's against the law for them to do that. They just won't receive any new stock, and won't be able to take returns. Make sure you check all your resources. The product does not get shipped to a different store. Hope this helps anyone who reads this.
