As you can tell from the recent Black Friday posts, hundreds of thousands of people will be getting an HDTV over the next 3 – 4 days. If this is your first one, you’re going to definitely enjoy the upgrade in picture quality. Once you have it in your new home there are a few things you may want to consider to help make your experience better.
-Cleaning cloth; these are usually microfiber and help to wipe the dust off of the screen without putting any scratches on it. If the TV is going to be in a room that accumulates a lot of dust or if you have pets this will help you tremendously.
-Mount; many of the newer homes are designed to allow you to hang your television on a wall usually over the fireplace. Make sure you confirm the maximum weight of the mount and the weight of your television. Also, if you get a mount that swivels make sure it’s secured into the wall properly or the weight will end up causing the television and mount to fall.
-HDMI cable; this will help make sure you’re getting the best picture possible. It’s one cable and it can carry both the sound and video signals from your XBox, or cable box to your televsion. Avoid buying cables from a brick and mortar store since they are usually marked up high. Don’t buy anything that’s more than $4 per foot. The cables simply don’t cost that much.
-Warranty; this is completely up to you, but if you’re investing $800+ dollars it may be worthwhile to consider spending a little extra to make sure if it goes on the blick.
Otherwise, enjoy! There are some great deals and despite the economy being the way it is there’s a golden opportunity.
