For example, a 50-inch set earns an Energy Star mark if it consumes less than 318 watts of electricity in one month (five hours on, and 19 hours in standby mode each day) at its default picture settings; we award the GreenTech Approval only if that TV consumes 222 watts or less under the same conditions.
