Is Amazon’s White Glove Delivery Any Good?

Newly purchased Consumerist.com takes a look at Amazon’s White Glove Delivery Service and poses the question of if it’s a worthwhile service to customers.  It’s advertised as free, but you have to think that the service ends up getting rolled into the price at least to some extent.

If you aren’t familiar, the idea is to make sure that you don’t mess something up when you purchase something high ticket like an HDTV.  After you place your order, it ends up going through the usual fulfillment process.  The biggest difference is that Amazon will pass it to a delivery service who will schedule delivery instead of just handing it off to UPS or Fedex.

Once you setup a time and date for delivery, your purchase is brought into your home and even up steps.

The service sounds great if you live alone or in a house of people that work during normal business hours.  The comments seem pretty positive while there are some who just seem to be impossible to prove.
