While taking a deeper look at LED DLP HDTVs like the HL-S5679W, I started wondering about the LED lamp it uses and what would happen if the lamp stopped working before the 100,000 hours Samsung says it should last.
The good news is that you won’t have to just throw it away. The bad news is that to replace the LED lamp, you’ll have to purchase a replacement light engine which would contain the LED lamp. Contrary to what people on AVSForum say, a replacement LED light engine won’t cost $1,900. You’ll be happy to hear that it won’t cost you $1,000…or even $900.
Actually BP96-01470B only costs $875.95.
This probably means that all of the people who are buying the 61A750 and other LED DLP HDTVs will find out that if their lamp goes bad that it will cost about the same to make their television work.
