A reader asked us if we had any idea of how much the much saught after KDL52XBR9 would cost.  We don’t try to look into our crystal ball too much but with all the interest for this model it seems only right.

Expect to see the KDL-52XBR9 to hit the shelves for $3,499.

How did we get to that number?  Allow us to explain.

Sony is pretty methodical with many of the things that they do, so we’re going to hope that pricing isn’t a place where they take a break.  The XBR9 is the new top of the line model to replace the KDL-52XBR7 and KDL-52XBR6.

The XBR7 costs $2,999 and the XBR6 costs $2,499.  This $500 gap seems to suggest that when the new model is available, it will feature the same price gap which would set it apart from most televisions but is almost justified from the features being packed into the 52XBR9.
