Samsung decided to make some improvements on the 46A850 with the arrival of the LN46A860.  The 46A860 has been upgraded from the 46A850 in several ways.  The biggest difference is that the 46A860 is Energy Star 3.0 compliant.  This means that you’ll be using much less power and won’t have to worry as much about the television using power when it’s in Standby mode.

There have also been some improvements to the screen to make it sharper, and crisper.  Also, in the box is a wheel remote control which is provided in addition to the regular remote so you can just change the channel or the volume without needing the larger remote.  Otherwise, the 46A860 takes the 1.9 inch thickness from it’s predecessor and continues the tradition.  Samsung refers to the 8 series as the televisions whose remote control is thicker than the actual television.
