After announcing the KDL46V5100 at CES, it is now available for purchase. You won’t be able to buy it through their traditional Sonystyle.com site as it’s only being sold on their b2b site.
The $1,899 price is $300 more than the KDL46V4100 model it’s replacing. What do you get for the extra $300 dollars aside from having the latest thing out?
-120Hz vs 60Hz
-BRAVIA Engine 2 vs. BRAVIA Engine 1
-Energy Star 3.0 certification
These are some pretty big jumps but when you consider you could get the 46V4100 for $1,599 or get a refurbished 52W4100 for $1,949 which is also 120Hz, 1080p, and is 6 inches larger – you may end up wanting to wait before you pick yours up.
Update #2: The KDL-46V5100is now available to be ordered and is available for under $1,500 with free shipping from Amazon.com.
Update: It looks like you can find pricing for the rest of the new televisions at Sony’s B2B site as well with the exception of the XBR9 televisions. We’ve created a page with updated pricing for 2009 BRAVIAs. You can find it here.
