Unfortunately, the HD Guru didn’t get the message that prices have actually been rising on HDTVs. Instead, he points out that when compared to the MSRP, you can save several hundred dollars.
The only issue is that almost no one pays MSRP as retailers are always competing to ring up more sales for the lowest tolerable amount. Around the time of the Super Bowl, prices were lower. I’m going to take a look at 2008 HDTV models and the 2009 models they’re being replaced by to help you see if the difference in price is worth it. For the most part it will be, but there may be models where it just makes more sense to buy the newer version and enjoy all of the bells and whistles.
Stay tuned.
