Consumer Reports run Consumerist.com has a great video where CR looks at Kill-a-watt products. These products work by giving you a readout of wattage when the product is plugged into it. You’ll be happy to know that the two monitors they tested provided accurate results. The problem is that the monitors themselves don’t save you any more. They only help to make you more aware of where power is being used around your house.
Once you know where the power is being used, it’s up to you to decide what to unplug to help drive your electric bills down.
