Losing money sucks. Losing a bunch of money sucks even more. Now that Panasonic is being gobbled up by Sanyo the idea of losing money is something that Panasonic is looking to change. They’re looking to “tighten distribution,” which for everyone else means that they’re tired of certain stores undercutting other stores so much that their product ends up looking cheap.
You’d think that in such a tight environment, Panasonic would like to sell more HDTVs not less but I can understand the thinking. It’s better to sell less televisions at a higher price and margin than it would be to sell a bunch of HDTVs at a loss.
