Pioneer has thrown in the towel and given up on their Plasma HDTV business. This gives Panasonic an opportunity to pick up where they left off since the KURO line are the only plasmas to have a better picture quality than Panasonic.
For 2009, this is going to change with Panasonic’s new Z1 line.
