Rear Projection Television Parts

The most frequently replaced television part isn’t actually internal. It’s the remote control. Either they stop working or get damaged by a pet or small child. Getting a universal is usually the first idea that comes to mine except that they usually won’t get you into the menus and other options of your television. For that reason getting the exact remote for your TV can be really important. To find the right remote for your television, just make sure you have the right model number for you television and you can search for a replacement remote with the brand and model.

After the remote, people end up replacing the tuner most often. The tuner is the part where you plug everything in on the back of your set or would screw in the coaxial cable. There are usually on one board so if you break off one connection you usually have to replace the whole board.

Now, if you have a rear projection TV, you’re familiar with having to replace the lamp ever 6-8,000 hours. After prolonged use many people are reporting that the fan, ballast, and light engine also need to be replaced. The fan is used to keep everything inside of a projection television cool while the ballast and light engine are involved in the powering of the lamp which provides the picture in a DLP HDTV.

A television actually have several thousand parts and if the issues doesn’t get resolved by replacing one of the bigger parts you may have to change one of the smaller pieces on the board. Since these microchips don’t have a specific name they are replaced by knowing the location number. Once things get to the point where you need a location number. Typically you can’t get this information without having an exploded view of the television or the complete service manual. Unfortunately service manuals aren’t available from the manufacturer, and are almost always unavailable online you have to order a service manual to make sure you’re buying the right parts.

The last part on a television is the screen. Most times the screen will cost more than the actual television to replace and with new televisions getting cheaper and cheaper, it can be easier to just go and get a whole new TV.
