Mitsubishi Proves DLP Isn’t Dead With New Sets

I don’t even know what to say.  I was for sure that DLP was dead, but sure enough Mitsubishi is still pumping them out.

They have new 60, 65, 73, and even an 80 DLP HDTV.  You can read more about each of the new televisions at Mitsubishi’s site.

The good part is that these new sets use the 915B403001.

just 2 cents of one cent opinion…
    its DLP.
its a last breath of the assembly line. its not making it in the shelf wars. Think Beat Max versus VHS…its not just the technology that makes something great, the biz has to make a buck and that ain’t happening with DLP.

yes, you can see the Cinema adds but the 20,000 chips can be made in one day and not enough to maintain a factory of work let alone the suits who need $300,000 bonuses (each).
look at the shelf wars, DLP is disappearing like HD versus BlueRay, or a MiniDisc versus CD-R. another dead technology, not that it isn’t a cool technology.

the rest is just the biz. People like LCD as its everywhere and hasn’t the problems (plus Samsung and everyone else wants LCD to win). Biz is all about money, and money is all their looking at…they don’t give a shirt about which is technically better. Thats irrelevant…what is selling is all the Biz cares about. LCD is tromping everyone.

not sure why Mitsi is putting out more and more of the DLP tv’s. They also make LCD and Plasma.

1080P LCD can be had for $600, 42″…the profit margins for the Biz is disappearing as it turns into the consumable technology widget market of TV’s and Wal Mart.

Why are you trying to prove DLP isn’t dead?
Do you have some personal attachment to the widget?

Actually, you can't beat the price for a large HDTV. I have a 61in Samsung that I only paid $1549.00, 1 1/2 years ago. tha inclued shipping, and Amazon's “White Glove” service.

This is one of the best purchases I've ever made. I can get an even bigger set now from Mitsub, at the same price.

I do have LCD, and for smaller sets, the price point is great and getting better. I use a 32in TV for my home office main computer monitor for example. I have a 24in. for the work desktop.

I don't know about the business bottom line, but it sure seems to be a great technology.

BTW – Mine is an LED/DLP, there are no replacement bulbs.

There is, but you can't replace it yourself. LED DLPs have a service replaceable lamp. Since they are rated for 100,000 hours no one thinks that you'll ever need to…hopefully they never short out.

DLP isn’t dead, but its definitely on life support. If you want a television over 60 inches, the best value were and continue to be DLP.

Since this site is primarily dedicated to TV lamps and bulbs, we’re pretty partial to the technology.

42 inch LCD HDTVs are available for $599, but they’re for refurbished television from a brand like Westinghouse or Vizio.
