We received an email from a reader, and here’s what it says:
I think that I need a Ballast for my 52″ DLP Magnavox. I tried to replace the bulb, but the TV still would not show a picture, do you think I need a Ballast? And where do I find one?
Now, I’m a lot of things but as much as I love televisions, I’m not a technician. The last thing I want you to do is to spend money you don’t have to especially the way things are going in this crazy country of ours.
I’d start by asking you some questions to help you make sure it’s the ballast. First, do you hear the fans and/or the color wheel spin when you turn the television on? If you don’t it may indicate that these parts don’t work.
As far as if you need a ballast or not, you’re best bet it to try a site like AVSForum.com. There are people who have been help people with problems like yours for years and may be able to assist you. You can also try sites like Fixya.com where experts will give you a range of solutions.
Once you know what you need, you should consider picking it up from our partner, PartStore.com. Just make sure that you know the model number of your television since ever Magnavox isn’t the same.
This may not be the answer you were looking for, but I hope it helps.
