The Samsung mini-remote is different for the different 7000 series LED HDTVs. The UN40B7000, UN46B7000, and UN55B7000 all use Samsung remote part number BN59-00788B, while the UN46B7100, and UN55B7100 use the BN59-00802A.
This mini remote is pebble shaped and provides just the main functions of the television such as turning it on and off, changing the volume and the channel. This is a small touch, which is nice but may end up being useless for most people. Many people get their television from a service like DirecTV or Comcast. These services provide their own universal remote which allows you to change inputs, volume, and channel. It’s hard to image that people would be hooking a regular antenna up to a $2,500+ television but it’s definitely possible. For those people, this will be a great add-on.
I’ve been writing a while about the new Samsung LED HDTVs, such as our coverage on the UN55B7100. Among the many innovations built into these televisions, they’ve decided to provide another little upgrade to help differtiate themselves from other HDTVs brands – a mini remote.
