Consumer Reports says it best, keep it simple. Don’t try to clean your brand new plasma or LCD HDTV with industrial cleaning products like Windex. The alcohol and other chemicals could help to ruin the actual screen leaving damage that you may never be able to fix.
Instead, if you use just a regular damp cloth you should be able to get most of the dust off. Also you don’t want to use just any old cloth – you want to use a microfiber cloth. Using something more abrasive may also cause damage to the screen.
When in doubt, consult your television’s manual.
