The B8000 series is an upgrade over the existing B7000/B7100 series HDTVs from Samsung. With the UN46B7100 retailing for under $2,600 it’s hard to justify spend over $3,000 for the UN46B8000.
The largest difference between the UN46B8000 and B7100 comes down to contrast ratio. The UN46B8000 delivers an almost unrealistic 5,000,000:1 dynamic “Mega” contrast ratio. Both televisions are the same depth, have the same software, and ports. The B8000 series televisions are also 240Hz. This means that the picture should be a lot clearer for the UN46B8000.
While many are waiting for the B9000 series televisions to come out later this year, the UN46B8000 is currently available from BestBuy.com for $3,299.
