If you’ve been in the market for an HDTV over the last month or so, you would have seen that prices are dropping. While it’s hard to tell if prices are going to stay down forever there are signs which point to prices staying put or going down even further.
PCWorld discusses an iSuppli report which documents a price drop specifically in 42 inch 1080p LCD HDTVs. In fact, I wrote a bout the Proscan 40″ HDTV on sale for $499 which is the same amount 32″ HDTVs were going for last year.
Also from PCWorld’s article:
According to a study by research company iSuppli, a basic 40- or 42-inch LCD TV (1080p, 60Hz refresh, CCFL backlighting) by Sony sold for $1487 in October of last year, but this May it was going for $1098–a drop of 35 percent. By contrast, the price of a similar Vizio dropped by only 27 percent, from $1037 to $819.
