Despite the decline in consumer production of DLP televisions, Texas Instruments (TI) has continued to see DLP thrive for movie theaters. To help continue that relationship and tradition they’re improving against their current 2K technology and upgrading it with 4K technology.
To date, DLP has been the best projection technology when it comes to all digital films which helps achieve a clarity previously unseen. Similar to the value they provide for people who need to use big screens at home, DLP enables cinemas to achieve the same value.
According to Businesswire:
DLP Cinema projection technology is installed in nearly 11,000 screens on every continent except Antarctica. Today there are over 4,300 worldwide screens that offer digital 3D with the use of every pixel array in the frame for the brightest picture unlike other technologies in the industry. Since last year’s introduction, IMAX® digital projection systems powered by DLP Cinema projectors have reached a total of 83 locations worldwide.
