Best Buy is hungry and making a lot of decisions to try to raise revenue and diversify their product offerings. TIVO and Best are going to be working together to add TIVO software to Best Buy’s line of Insignia HDTVs. With all of the innovation happening across the board to Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and Vizio televisions Best Buy doesn’t want their house brands to be left out in the cold.
While Insignia products may not earn any blue ribbons for mind blowing picture quality, it’s a value product at a value price. Sitting on the shelves of the largest electronics retailer in the US won’t hurt sales of these new televisions either.
At this point TIVO and Netflix seem to be in a fight to see who can get their service onto more products to not only be able to allow current users more flexibility but also provide a way to get more subscribers.
I smell a good ‘ole gun fight and I like it.
