Energy Star 3.0 helps to show that electronics use less power than other non-compliant electronics. PC Mag has compiled a list of televisions which will be good on your wallet and on your wall. Here’s how they put the list together:
PCMag GreenTech Approved HDTVs must surpass Energy Star 3.0 standards by at least 30 percent when the TV is operated at its default settings. For example, a 50-inch set earns an Energy Star mark if it consumes less than 318 watts of electricity in one month (five hours on, and 19 hours in standby mode each day) at its default picture settings; we award the GreenTech Approval only if that TV consumes 222 watts or less under the same conditions.
This list combines both LCD and plasma televisions.
