The stage is set for Apple
Did you ever think people would rush out by the hundreds of thousands to pay $599 for a phone after years of being told that they could get a phone for free? Did you ever think people would pay $.99 for a song and then pay and extra $.30 to be able to get that song without any DRM?
Apple has changed the game and it makes sense that they turn their eye to another market ripe for change. Once again, Apple can apply it’s knack for simplicity in design and use while getting customers to pay top dollar.
Many feel that their first foray into the livingroom (Apple TV) has been a flop with little being said or done to it with the exception of hard drive size increases along the way. This would be a great way to redeem themselves and add billions to their balance sheet. The market is prepared for a vertical solution which would integrate a version of iTunes as the underpinning of a TVoperating system where you can watch regular television as you want but would be able to rent shows, or buy music directly from your television and it would be available on other similar televisions or your Macbook or iPhone.
Will they do it?
That remains to be seen but it’s a great idea to consider.
