Buyer beware.  It’s something you hear from time to time but a lot of it isn’t as bad as it may seem.  When it comes to low priced HDTVs like the many featured during Black Friday there are some trade offs.

You get to save hundreds on a television, or GPS, or digital camera but manufacturers can’t do that without cutting some corners.  The corner they cut is support.  It costs money to have people to answer phone calls or to have service technicians come out to your home.  It wouldn’t make sense to give people who are paying half of everyone else to get the same kind of support so these HDTVs come with 90 day warranties.

Does this mean you shouldn’t buy a cheap television?  Yes, absolutely.  Despite what the HD Guru may say there is a risk when you buy a $350 or $3,000 television.  Either way you’ll have no idea how good the picture will be, if it will have any dead pixels or bad speakers or if it will work so well you forget how much you paid for it.  Rolling the dice isn’t easy but with store return policies being the way they are, you’ll know in the first 20 minutes if you want to hold onto whatever television you buy.

I’m sure the rest end up working it’s way out.
