It seems as though Sony can’t catch a break. There are lots of reports over at AVS Forum of people reporting a red flash when watching a V5100 series Sony BRAVIA LCD HDTVs.
The issue appears to arise from a feature in the V5100 series which auto corrects color. Apparently it isn’t so bad that everyone notices it, similar to the Rainbow Effect which has plagued DLP HDTVs.
Until a firmware update is made available it may be best to hold off on buying a V5100 series television.
