The act of updating the firmware of your television shouldn’t be complicated. You should be able to download the firmware. Copy it onto a USB drive, stick the USB drive into your HDTV and that should be the end of it.
Unfortunately for some people in CNET’s forums Samsung firmware updates have not been good to them.
This is impacting owners of 650, 750, and B8000 series of Samsung HDTVs. The weirdest part in all this is that this firmware update isn’t even available on Samsung’s website. People are reporting that when they connect their television online that they are given the option to download the 1016 update and after doing so picture quality starts to deteriorate. Some people are also saying that their sound quality has lowered as well.
To avoid any of these issues, make sure to go directly to Samsung’s website and ONLY download what they’ve provided. Until they get their stories straight it can’t be good to download software the company doesn’t specify will work.
