When the internet was created one of the main reasons was to bridge the physical gaps which separated people who wanted to share with each other. It brought us email, Yahoo, Google, and pictures of cute kittens. For Sony, it has provided a bit of a thorn as they try to get things together.
Over 400 people are the fan of a page titled “I have a defective Sony TV.” I’m sure someone in the marketing department at Sony is pretty upset that this group exists and that so many people have joined together with the same issue. There are two sides to every store but when it comes to electronics people don’t want to be rational. They want to know that the thousands they spent on their television wasn’t a waste.
Some have threatened to sue, others have vowed to never buy another Sony product while a minority are going to bite the bullet and spend the money for the repairs.
As Sony is looking to improve their reputation and unveils their 2010 TV lineup, these kinds of bumps in the road are going to make it tough as Samsung and Vizio keep fighting to create more space between them and the #3 brand.
