Samsung isn’t playing any games when it comes to LED HDTVs.  They are going to push out more than 30 LED HDTV models.  Here are 5 facts you may not have known about Samsung’s 2010 LED backlit LCD televisions.

1) Model number breakdown – An example of a 2010 television model is UN22C4000.  The UN prefix means that it’s a LED HDTV being sold in North America.  The next two numbers (22 in this case) are for the size of the screen.  The letter after the screen is a letter assigned to the year the television came out.  2008 models used the letter A, 2009 models used the letter B, and 2010 models use the letter C.  The last four digits correspond to the series number with the higher the number marking a higher end Samsung LED HDTV.

2) They will be tiny – In 2009, Samsung didn’t make any LED HDTVs smaller than 32 inches.  They only made one model, the UN32B6000.  In 2010, Samsung is making a 22 inch LED HDTV.  A move like this will help increase the total number of LED HDTVs sold as well as give Samsung some momentum to capture the title of top LCD seller from Vizio.

3) Two new series show up – Samsung LED HDTVs used to start with the 6000 series.  In 2010, Samsung will be pushing a 4000 and 5000 series.  Both are missing the 120Hz or 240Hz refresh rate and cut several other corners.   The 4000 series is only 720p while the 5000 series is 1080p.

4) 2010 price premium – When comparing 2009 models to 2010 models with similar specifications it’s hard to miss the premium Samsung is charging.  You can get a 40 inch UN40B6000 LED HDTV for around $1,100.  The UN40C5000 is selling for $1,199.  While this isn’t much of a price difference, the 6000 series has a 120Hz refresh rate while the UN40C5000 is only 60Hz.

5) No HDMI 1.4 inputs – With all of the hype and interest in the HDMI 1.4 spec, it’s surprising to see that they don’t show up on any 2010 LED HDTVs.  2010 LED HDTV models are all currently spec’d with HDMI 1.3 inputs.
