Depending on the age of your television, and the brand finding replacement television parts can be a tedious task.
One of the most difficult scenarios to deal with is when the television parts are no longer available (NLA). This means that for whatever reason the manufacturer is no longer providing these parts to distributors and no longer make them internally.
Usually when parts go NLA the manufacturer provides a replacement. Less parts to worry about means that it will be cheaper for the manufacturer to manage the logistics better. Sadly companies discontinue making parts without notice.
A general rule of thumb is that Sony, Panasonic, and Samsung have a wide availability of parts for a lengthy period of time. Brands like JVC, Sharp, Toshiba and RCA will typically stop making parts available for their televisions within 5 years of the television no longer selling in the retail channel. Other lesser known brands are even more difficult. Sometimes the companies don’t make the televisions, they just put their name on them. This make replacing anything except the remote control near impossible.
When all else fails it may be worthwhile to turn to garage sales, eBay or Craigslist to see if someone is selling the same model you own. From there you can disassemble it, use what you need and discard of the rest.
