The Truth About OEM TV Stands

Access more than 7.4 million parts at Parts Direct

If you take a look at our TV Stands page you’ll see that a lot of people for one reason or another are looking for a replacement TV stand.

As more and more HDTVs get bought across the US and around the world I wanted to share some things you should consider if you are ever in the market for a replacement.

- First, and foremost you should know that the company that made your television could care less if you need a replacement TV stand. They are in the business of selling you a television. Most companies offer replacement parts in general because they have to as they work with warranty companies who need replacements to fulfill the conditions of a customers warranty. If it weren’t for them, there would be little motivation for them to offer replacement parts to the general public.

- TV stands have a 1:1 relationship to the model they come with. There is no secondary market for television stands since very few models use the same stand. This means that a company would have to make several hundred different molds and would have to spend a lot of time and money to make sure they all work. Frankly that’s not going to happen. If you don’t like the color, shape, size or anything else about the TV stand you’re stuck. I wish there was a softer way of saying this but this is a reality that I’ve had to learn to accept and hope you do as well.

- Your TV stand will not be available forever. Realizing that TV manufacturers aren’t entirely thrilled with being in the replacement parts space it won’t seem so far fetched that sometimes they stop making parts even if they are critical to the performance of their product. Even if your television is only 3 or 4 years old you may find that the manufacturer no longer sells the stand which came with your television. Sony, Samsung, and Panasonic are some of the most reliable as far as parts go. Sharp, Toshiba, RCA aren’t bad either depending on the model. All of the other manufacturers are a gamble. They typically don’t even make the television they market under their brand and usually their contacts don’t include support for replacement parts.

This post wasn’t meant to scare or discourage you. I love having the opportunity to help so many people find what they need and if you need a replacement TV stand feel free to ask.
