For several years, owners of SXRD DLP televisions have been facing problems. First there was a nagging issue which required the light engine (optical block assembly) to be replaced. Thankfully Sony extended the warranty for these televisions since this part could cost $800+. Next, these same owners have been getting the cold shoulder and run around from Sony on a real solution in the form of a replacement television.
Finally, these same Sony TV owners are getting an opportunity to get somewhat made whole as they are getting new LCD BRAVIA televisions for a drastically reduced price.
If you have one of these televisions, here is what you should do:
Call Sony customer service at 1-888-993-7669.
From there you want to plead your case and let them know that you want a deal similar to the ones other people are being offered because of the inconvenience and problems with their Sony TV.
Here are the kinds of deals people are being offered:
KDL52EX701 for $954+tax
KDL55EX501 for $724+tax
KDL46EX700 for $574+tax
Now in some rare occurrences people are being offered the KDL55EX701 for about $500 but that deal may no longer be available. While the discounts are nice, people paid thousands of dollars for these televisions in the past. They aren’t going to get the money they’ve already spent back but this is definitely more than nothing.
